BEST PLACE TO BUY ORGAN MEAT UK?

If you do not have a local butcher, I've used a number of online services before which I could message you about if you like, but just searching for "grass-fed liver delivery UK" will yield plenty of results. It's the only organ meat I have much interest in. I imagine if you wanted diverse organs regularly you might need multiple sources.

I think it is generally best to find a good butcher, though. You can ask them about things like how the animals were raised, what they were fed and finished on, and also importantly which day they get their meat in from the abattoir, then you can time your visit to get it when it's relatively fresh.

In terms of price, it generally varies quite a bit, but the best value tends to be in my local, and there is much more leeway for weight - if you order online there isn't really much option, you have to take whatever amount they pre-package.

Have you used greenpasturesfarm, what was the best website you used?

I've not used that one before, but it looks good to me. I could message you the sites I've used, but that one might even be better. I prefer my oxtail by the kilo, but those prices are reasonably similar to what I pay already. I'd say go for it and see how you get on with them.

What’s wrong with just getting it from Tesco? You don’t mention it exactly what organ meat you want but they tend to have most things.

I didn't want to just endorse one in the thread, but yeah they're alright too. When I used to order from them, they would sometimes simply not send (and refund) the meat I wanted, so it's a good idea to have a backup; but I think their oxtail was decent and their liver was pretty good as well. I mentioned them in my message to the OP already.

I don't believe they have any specific policy on how the animals are fed, raised, or butchered - the meat you get there might already be older than you would like, pumped full of hormones, and never fed any grass: sometimes, the meat will be labelled things like "grass-finished" or "partially grass-based diet" but these are often red flags for me. Also, yes, unless you're at a very big or specialised branch, you'll rarely find everything you're looking for. My local Tesco and Sainsburys are both quite large and neither stock liver, for instance. I think there are probably some exceptions to this in terms of chains (very very fancy chains may assure you of something being totally grass-fed at least).

They look pretty good. Have you had much experience with them before?

Yes I get all my meat delivered from them - they've been great for a couple of years now. Family business raising animals the right way. They've just started a steak mince with ground beef heart and liver in it based on customer requests.

That sounds pretty good. I might get in touch with them to see if they'd do an entire neck fillet rather than end-pieces, since that's something my butcher doesn't always have. Thanks for the link.

Eversfield Organic explicitly claim their livestock is exclusively pasture-fed, with PFLA certification. I also remember calling them and asking them a number of times about this - are you saying they're lying/do you know something about them specifically? That would be worrying.

If you don't mind, could you tell us how you know this, too? It might be useful to check other suppliers.

Thanks, that was my understanding of their policy too, but I was asking the person above you (the one I quoted) who said they weren't pasture-fed. I'm curious as to why they think that company is lying, and I think it would be useful to find out.

Any butcher who slaughters in house is a good bet in the UK if available (rural areas usually) really cheap for the offal, bones etc but generally more on the steaks, chops and the like compared to a store. I wouldn't really worry about pasture raised if its British beef as it nearly all is but they do add in cereals to slow the digestion depending on the grass quality at the time, lamb gets more added 'nutrition' but still usually mostly grass fed. Pork and chicken, however, is usually a disgusting s*** show of bad farming practices.
