I was already doing some candy bars before Peating, but now it looks like they will become a significant calorie source. Snickers are my staple now, probably not so good because of the soy but still benefits are outweighing the negative so far. Which of the non-pure-chocolate (more sugar than fat) bars are least damaging in your experience?

I like Enjoy Life's dark chocolate bar because it's free of soy. Their milk chocolate rice crisp bar contains carrageenan so I personally avoid that one. I also keep their chocolate chips on hand for chocolate cravings because they are also soy free and I get more chocolate for my money that way. One downside from a convenience perspective is that you have to purchase Enjoy Life products from a specialty store like a health food store or in the natural foods section of the regular supermarket. I'm sure there are other options that I'm not familiar with but thought I'd mention that one as it is soy free.

The ones from Dave Asprey look fine, but they do have a premium price tag.

Whole foods has a dark chocolate bar that does not have any Soy Lechtin. I believe its their 365 everyday value brand. Not expensive either.

These bars are the ones I've tried so far that I think are really good.

This bar has these mint crunchies in a smooth dark chocolate:

This bar has these tiny toffee pieces and coconut bits all throughout and the chocolate itself seems more like a milk chocolate. It reminds me of Toblerone:

This one is orange:

This one I just found while getting you the links to the chocolates above. I'm seriously going to have to try these because they're truffles. God I love truffles!

Below is an awesome chocolate database where you can search by ingredient, brand, rating ect. I hit the no soy box so the link below will take you directly to the list of soy free brands:

Maybe Charlie or a moderator can put this link in the forum somewhere so everyone will have it at their disposal?

I used to bite the top layer off the Snickers bar, with the caramel and peanuts in it. Unfortunately, peanuts are right there with soybeans as the worst of the legumes. Other than good chocolate, I think Neco wafers are made with sugar. Lots of HFCS in other candy bars, though.

Snickers are yummy. Maybe we could brainstorm for a snicker's inspired recipe? Possibly a few macadamia nuts would work instead of peanuts if one is feeling extra adventurous! Hmmm...this sounds perfect for the holidays.

Brigadeiro is tasty and easy to make

Wow, sounds great gummybear. I never heard of it before. From Allrecipes

3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1 tablespoon butter
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cocoa, butter and condensed milk. Cook, stirring, until thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let rest until cool enough to handle. Form into small balls and eat at once or chill until serving.
