Best diet for my hamster

What's the best food to give my Syrian hamster? At the moment he gets, seeds, grains, dried fruit, some fresh fruit, some live bugs. I heard Ray say that wild small animals which hibernate will preferentially eat PUFA (nuts, seeds, grains) before winter to slow their metabolism down to help with hibernation. But it's summer now and hibernation isn't necessary anyway. Should I put my hammy on a low PUFA diet? lol

I think Ray said that hibernation is an adaptation to reduced food supply in winter, but not necessarily healthy for the animal.
