Benoxaprofen Reverses MPB. Help Me Identify By What Mechanism?

My random guess. It is structurally related to psolaren, known phototoxic compound. And psolaren is used inM in combination with UV light.

Yes psolaren has been found to inhibit 5LOX


I just dont understand how that leads to hair growth.

After u inhibit 5lox you have more arachidonic acid going to prostaglandins. And then somehow with sun that results in hair growth?


Perhaps the drug increases sensitivity to light. This leads to a sunburn and this leads to wound repair (we know controlled wounding can shrink fibrosis). That can’t be it by itself because many bald people have gotten sun burn son their head and no hair. Maybe high 5lox expression blocks the hair from coming back.

I mean if 5lox inhibition is good for hair wouldn’t they have noticed in trials people’s hairs getting thicker .

@rob have you looked into this ? 5lox inhibitors apparently have powerful anti inflammatory properties
