Aspirin And Tinnitus

Have been taking aspirin (325 mg x 3 daily) along with niacin to get my cortisol down. Now upon getting up, I'm getting a sort of 'wup-wup-wup-wup' low tone in my right ear. This has happened several times. I don't know if this has something to do with my carotid artery (neck) or if it's tinnitus, which can sound like a number of things - but guessing it's more on the level of an arterial issue since it starts only when I get up from a sitting position. Don't know, I'm not much of a science person.

Looked up tinnitus and found that it can be caused by aspirin - "It's possible to create tinnitus by having a person take a lot of aspirin," the specialist said. "In the old days, doctors used to tell arthritis patients seeking pain relief: 'Take aspirin until your ears ring. ' That was just an old-fashioned way of determining a patient's tolerance to aspirin. " Tinnitus can occur in a single episode, temporarily for a few days or weeks, or permanently, Moran said. It can occur in one ear (unilaterally) or in both ears (bilaterally). While tinnitus is more common in both ears, the rare unilateral ailment can be more serious." High-Pitched Ringing in Ears May Be Wake-Up Call

Just putting this out there FYI.

I have noticed my tinnitus gets much worse with aspirin as well. Did you find any resolution for yours?

also tinnitus, high dose aspirin does not making it worse of less for me.
For me, dehydration and/or low on electrolytes is biggest factor.

RP recommends 1 mg of vitamin K for every 325 mg of aspirin (which is a lot of vitamin K). Otherwise the aspirin can cause calcification and lead to tinnitus. Aspirin can deplete glycine also (I think if vitamin D is low) so supplementing gelatin might also help.

Good to know
Everyone keeps saying 1mg is the right dosage but I’m having trouble finding mk4 in such small doses
The supplements I have of mk4 is 100mg per tablet

Have you tried it without the niacin? I haven't met many people who've done well with niacin. Niacinamide is another story.

I was taking aspirin (325 mg x2 daily, sometimes 3 times a day) for two months and just recently my tinnitus has gone to a seriously unpleasant level. Without a doubt it is the aspirin. I have been completely off aspirin for about 4 days but it hasn't gone down. I read that it can take up to 10 days for the salicylate, the active chemical, to leave the body. Ototoxicity caused by aspirin is not joke.

Did it gone? How bad is your tinnitus now?

I has gotten slightly better. I still think I need more time for it to become less of an issue. I've had it for a long time so levels take more time to decrease. There are other factors that are contributing to it also.
Pretty much all blood thinners have a detrimental effect on tinnitus. Another potential blood thinner in high doses is Vitamin E. So if you are supplementing it and taking large doses be aware of the blood thinning effects.

So is it calcification or blood thinning that causes the tinnitus? For me, aspirin causes a constant high-pitch static that's most noticable when it's quiet.

That way ray advice is to take 1mg vit k by every 325mg aspirin to stop thinning the blood
