Permethrin is extremely toxic to cats. So obviously if you have a cat, you might want to avoid that. Taken further, while cats certainly aren't humans, I view them as the canaries in the coal mine, anything that does them in easily I would pursue with caution unless abundantly proven otherwise.

Slightly unrelated, but topical progest-e seems to speed up recovery of mosquito bites. I'm not sure if it's just the E or the progesterone.

There are some simple machines that use CO2 to attract and then trap mosquitos, fyi. Google/youtube 'CO2 mosquito machine' or something 'CO2 mosquito magnet', etc.
