@CLASH

Yeah I pretty much agree with all of that. You can probably handle more fructose if it is properly balanced with glucose like you said. I was eating too many high fructose:glucose foods like apples, and was having major energy crisis and difficulties keeping my temps up. Just about finished with my rice + butter + shrimp (& hot tea with maple syrup) dinner and got my temp to over 100F easily.

I also agree and eat about the same macros as you. I don't feel good on low fat or low carb, so I have a generous supply of both.

Sorry to slightly go off on a tangent.

I cured my Mom's SIBO with herbs after she tried the $1,000 antibiotics from her useless gastro. Problem is she is still taking the herbs 1 year later. Symptoms are much much better but come back if she stops the herbs. The next step would be GAPS/FODMAP diet

Herbal Antibiotics
1-3 of the following herbs x 4 weeks per course, at highest levels suggested on product labels.
Allicin from Garlic (the highest potency formula I know of is Allimed)
Oregano
Berberine- found in Goldenseal, Oregon Grape, Barberry, Coptis, Phellodendron
Neem
Cinnamon

clinically proven too
Herbal therapy is equivalent to rifaximin for the treatment of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.

Betaine HCL and digestive enzymes are also important so that you digest your food in your stomach and minimize feeding time at the zoo:)

do you think people with SIBO are hypothyroid?
Not sure who you're talking to but this is something I definitely believe. The gut and the thyroid have strong correlations with each other. When your metabolic rate tanks stomach acids decrease, digestion slows, and your basal temperature is low. This sets up the perfect breeding ground for bacteria, yeast, and fungi.

From personal experience I can't recommend the FODMAP diet. I tried it and did lose some weight but it didn't fix anything in fact ultimately it made things worse.

It's because it's an abysmally low calorie diet (almost all foods are banned that are calorie dense, carb wise at least), and I crashed my metabolism, so when I started eating again I ballooned in weight even faster than before.

Nate hatch discusses this in his book. By following a FODMAP style diet, yes you stop feeding the bugs but no you do not kill them. They are very resilient and you only stop their replication by following a diet like this, not kill them, so the moment you bring carbs back in, they're back, stronger than ever before. This was 100% my experience.

What are endotoxin containing foods ?

they are likely to result in endotoxins:
raw veggies (other than carrot)
brown rice
whole wheat bread
for some, any bread or grain-containing foods
beans

endotoxin containing foods include ground beef, probably cured meats.

A disease that cant be cured but only managed is the drug companies' research department's prime directive. Not saying that SIBO was created but something must have changed in the environment/our collective biome that has caused so many people to end up with it. For that reason, similiar to the ever increasing numbers of autism/cancer/etc., I dont think it can be blamed on things we have always been doing. Low thyroid and endotoxins have been around for ever but SIBO is something completely new, or at least new at these numbers.

Perhaps it's GMOs that have caused our good bacteria to mutate. Perhaps it's all the probiotics people are popping like M&Ms.

I believe one of the reasons for the drastic surge in SIBO is not just PUFA's, but EMF's. Nicolas Pineault says in his book that research suggests EMF's can cause leaky gut leading to SIBO. I realized my home was irradiating me with extremely high EMF's, that I've since mitigated and hope will finally knock out my bloating once and for all.

Is it really new or have we just finally developed a name for a specific set of symptoms that has always been around?

Sometimes they do that. More often they take an old disease and give it a new name so they say they cured the old one; Polio as an example.

But it seems way too many people I know today have some sort of f upped stomach whether SIBO, IBS, Chrohn's etc. I dont remember anyone having these issues 30 years ago.

could be. probably a collection of changes in our environment that all added up has made us all much more sick than our grandparents ever were.

could be. probably a collection of changes in our environment that all added up has made us all much more sick than our grandparents ever were.

So many problems... really since around 1960, increase of PUFA, reduction of SFA'cholesterol containing foods, reduction of salt intake, excessive intake of unhealthy starches, heavy metals/halides, reduction of Iodine, frequent X-rays (dentist, airport...), excessive fructose/glucose ratios (due to GMO'd fruit and HFCS which not only is not natural, but heavily skews us in favor of fructose in an unhealthy ratio), EMF's, excessively stressful jobs/lifestyles, reduction of socialization due to social media (ironic enough) and the internet in general, addiction to porn which reduced socialization incentive with the opposite gender (Sure magazines existed before, but it was much harder to get as addicted to those as with the novelty of what you can find on the internet), toxic additives in foods, etc etc etc... So, in the grand scheme of things EMF is certainly just one of many things. I believe pretty much all of these contribute to our unhealth compared to our grandparents.

Sibo was cured by steroids better than with antibiotics. Something to do with the hormones in the body affecting the autonomous muscles in the sphincters allowing bacteria to go back into the small bowel

One can have SIBO or SIFO or a combination thereof. People who can tolerate the potency of oregano and/or the allicin can sometimes completely eradicate. Atrantil is another one that has gotten good results - especially with the constipation (methane) cases. You likely want to include an antifungal such as Capryllic Acid, etc.

You might take a small dose and work up from there just to guage reactions. Knocking back the bacteria some in the SI can be beneficial for opening up diet and the bowels.

You also need to get exercise for mobility (10,000 steps is good) and stress control (yoga) as well.
