Re: Any one Read the book Calcium Lie?

Just wondering if anyone else has ever read this book, that's all.
Wasn't sure where to post this question but because he has opposite views about calcium, minerals and a few other things just thought it might be better posted here.

Ok no worries. I am going to move this down to the non Peat section then. :)

What's the backround on this Thompson guy? He makes some assertions (I hear people regurgitate them on FB groups) that I can't seem to validate anywhere else. For instance, he says that freeze drying fruits like acerola, etc. will cause the whole-food vitamin C to be no better than just plain ascorbic acid, for some reason, they didn't give details. He allegedly says that using colloidal silver or nano-silver will interfere with copper in the body, I haven't found anything validating that either. When I pressed these people to show me the science, references, etc. I received no replies from anyone. Wondering if this guy is legit?

@Dave Clark unfortunately I don't have much time to write but am convinced that the information he offers is true and an eye opener! I didn't find much info about his teachings online that's why I bought his book. Now I believe that most of my problems originate from (excess) dairy consumption - even hair loss! and a deficiency and balance of other minerals.

Thanks for posting. Seems like he is knowledgeable about what he is talking about, however, still wondering about the freeze dried fruits for whole food vitamin C not being any good, or the silver interfering with copper levels, etc., not too sure about that.

You're welcome. I took photos of those pages where he mentions about the colloidal silver and vit C. Btw, used to take it too, long time ago but didn't notice any health benefits.
Off topic, I heard Chris Masterjohn saying that the folate is lost in frozen vegetables such as spinach, so they're useless in that regards too.

I was looking again, but only saw where mentioned not to use colloidal minerals, didn't really see any mention of silver, unless I missed it. Anyway, thanks for posting it. I already use whole food vitamin C, but someone on a group said that Thompson said that the freeze drying process denatured the vitamin C in the fruit making it no different than ascorbic acid. I am trying to see if there is any validity to that, because my source of wholefood C is from freeze dried acerola berries. And, it was said that he mentioned silver to be an antagonist to copper, of which I never heard before.

Oh I see. If I come across anything C related, I will let you know. So did you use his email address and he didn't reply to that?

Hi @Dave Clark,

In chemistry, elements were originally placed in the same column of the Periodic Table due to their similar properties.

This was later explained by the way electrons arrange themselves in peculiar orbits around the nucleus.

Copper, silver and gold are in the same column. They all have the same number of electrons in their outermost shell - the part of the atom that interacts with other atoms.

Eg. Copper and gold have a similar property in that they have pretty colours in their metallic state, whereas most other metals look like stainless steel.

We might expect cells to sometimes deal with silver and copper in similar ways, yet get slightly different results.

Another example is cadmium or mercury being toxic because they can displace zinc, but they don't always behave like zinc.

The body can deal somewhat with common metals in the same column like sodium vs potassium, or calcium vs magnesium, though we should probably consume them in the genetically expected proportions!

Heavy metals are rare, and there may not be any systems to detect and reject the impostor elements!

I wouldn't eat silver or gold foil on fancy chocolate cakes unless you want royal medical problems!

Interesting.

However, p.141 he talks about what would be the "reverse effect", where ascorbic acid would make scurvy worse instead of healing it.
I can't find anything about this "reverse effect". Any info ?

Damn one more "your doctor doesnt tell you about". I think someone has invented a "your doctor doesnt tell you about" book generator based on neural network. You just pay them and they give access to. There is a properties of that book you are "writing" to be selected. It like a sandbox game random map generator. You could choose some parameters. Target auditory, health issues, degree of paranoia, based on views of some doctor or cultural ideas and etc. And thats it.
