Alternative To Eggshell Powder

im buying eggshell powder for about 20 bucks when i can get now calicum for 10. Is there any alternatives that i can use to get calcium that are safe. what about oyster calicum is there heavy metals in the shell.

20 bucks for how much powder?
I didn't succeed in getting my eggshells fine enough with a a coffee grinder.
I've eaten quite a lot of oyster shell.
Recently bought some eggshell powder, but it's a bit gritty.

I think Peat has said eggshells are likely to have the least heavy metal contamination, and oyster shell may be second best. Both better than beef bonemeal, on average. But I guess it depends on the local conditions for the chooks and oysters, which we generally don't know unless we grow/harvest our own.
