what about same caloric intake, but 0 fat (meaning more protein and carbs)

this results in faster oxidation and weight loss, and is quite peaty

Same caloric intake as compared to what?

2500 calorie diet with 0 fat if someone is only burning 2400 calories daily is not likely to result in significant weight loss, if any. But there are so many factors that affect BMR and EE that someone literally has to "play around" and tweak their diet to find out what caloric intake results in them losing weight but not feeling ravenously hungry.

For example, caffeine increases EE (calories burned essentially) so it has the same effect at eating less or exercising more. For someone drinking large amounts of caffeine, they can consume more calories from food

A small reduction in calories has to occur to kickstart weight loss, but the source of that caloric deficit is not important.

Lowering Insulin does not result in weight loss, as has been shown in many well designed studies, but it DOES result in lower proteolysis so more weight-loss from muscle-wasting occurs when insulin is kept low.
