Alan Aragon is on his facebook page slinging insults towards Ray Peat and people trying to defend his work. Someone brought up that a friend of theirs was trying to steer them away from PUFA's and then the mud slinging commences.

This is OT but I was watching a video of Seth Roberts earlier; he is fond of doing all kinds of self experiments. Anyway, in the video he talks about his success with omega- 3s. If you look closely, you will notice his skin isn't great....

Alan Aragon is a bro science type dude who has something to say about pretty much all diet trends. I'm sure his skin/overall appearance reveals what he knows. I would not expect the Facebook crowd to understand this though.

    Alan who?

Gretchen: Interesting re SR. I wondered when his omega-3s and fermented foods (--> lactic acid) would catch up with him.

Haha. I laugh at people who attack RP. There is high probability they will lose credibility and become a laughingstock. It shows RP's ideas are spreading.

Aragon, Colpo and Lyle McDonald dont think high of Peat, but who cares
I dont think fermented foods are really that bad, but flax seed oil is definitely slow poison.

I have read the whole thread and the vast majority of Alans post are trolling. I was very unimpressed with his lack of ability to discuss the subject. You can see from almost every response he was getting emotionally involved and switching off any ability to question or learn.

On the other side of the coin, Eric maintained an unwavering respectable standard despite all of the attacks.

I am still really confused as to why people don't take Ray Peats work seriously.

I am also permanently shocked by people's permanent state of stupidity not just on this, but many other issues.

    Consider the source.
A lot of the more inflamed Peat criticism comes from the PaleoSphere,
or more generally the low-carb world.

    If you're in that world
one of your central tenets is Thou Shalt Not Eat Carbs.
Peat's views violate the hell out of that law.

And that tenet may've been practiced with success by the primals/paleos/low-carbers.
It did work, for me, for a while--
    that is, it did succeed,
that is, if I measured success by weight control.

So...if you think you've found The Way to Eat
and you're able to control your weight that Way...
well, most people (and I was this way for a while) think they Know The Truth.
If you believe you Know that,
and then you hear about Peat advising to eat a lot of carbs and sugars...
well, from that perspective, it does sound ridiculous.

From less specific, "normal" dietary perspectives,
    like A Modern American Diet
or just from the perspective of someone who doesn't even think much at all about diet,
just tries to follow some "common knowledge"...
well, Peat's advice to eat lots of white sugar and salt, for instance,
    that sounds like a joke--literally.

(Then we make it seem more silly and mockable from our end
by puffing ourselves up and saying things like
    "there is no Peat diet,"
or "the Peat diet can not be known because nothing can be understood in isolation,"
or "every individual decides for him/herself what a Peat diet is,"
    etc etc etc  )
