Acne after b12 supplementation

I was on a vegan diet for 5 years and it caused me a severe lack of b12, I supplemented with Cyanocobalamin 5000mcg daily for 6 months. In the third month, pimples started to appear on my back, arms and a little on my face, a lot of blackheads too.

I didn't use folic acid or folate, because I couldn't tolerate the side effects, but now I believe that the pimples are due to a hemocysteine residue, I would like some tips to clear this problem.

Should I try folic acid again?

Try biotin. B12 acne is common and it should be supplemented with sufficient biotin.

Thanks for the answer.
would that dose be adequate? I read that 500 mg of pantothenic acid is the best option, but I'm not sure.

What dose?
I terms of pantothenic acid (B5), I wouldn't take that much daily. Maybe 100mg.
Regarding biotin (B9) I think 1-5 mg (1000-5000 mcg) daily is okay.

The reason I was recommending biotin is because biotin and B12 are involved in the same mitochondria fueling pathway and supplementing only one of them in high doses can lead to a deficiency in the other. Bodo Kuklinski, a german doctor and specialist in molecular medicine, always makes it clear to take them together when high doses are used or issues like acne can appear.

Biotin is known to increase keratin production which can increase acne. Vitamin B5 is usually where most start for acne. Some find pantethine works better than pantothenic for them.

Biotin supplements caused acne for me when I tried it. That was 10 years ago, so I don't remember the dose.

There are people complaining of acne, or little bumps, on the Health Unlimited Pernicious Anemia site, from using B12. Looks like it is common. I haven't seen any hopeful answers there though.

I use B12 but my experience has been that I get breakouts when I supplement vitamin D and not enough vitamin A. Or, so I thought. Maybe it's the B12. I am upping my vitamin A because this did help in the past.

B12 changes something in the metabolism of p.acnes, commensal skin bacteria and those changes are related to increased inflammation and acne. Maybe you simply don’t need that much b12.
I think that we often do more harm than good with vitamin/mineral supplements because they screw our flora in multiple ways.

I couldn't stand the use of folic acid along with b12 because of the increased anxiety. It was impossible to sleep.
Now I'm trying to supplement folic acid by itself.

I'm pretty sure Ray said to be very careful with folic acid supplementation. That it's highly allergenic...

Read this page on choosing the right kind of B12. It sounds like you are using the most ineffective of the three options.

I have also read elsewhere that “cyan-” is short for cyanide and that this can build up in the liver, which may explain your acne. Just speculation and drawing on memory on that last part - may not be accurate.
