A Reason For Intolerance To Fasting/low Carb

Zero glucose intake is less than ideal for a number of reasons but most of them don't seem to explain why certain people tend to feel like DEATH when fasting or restricting carbohydrates. A reason for this may be that they are dependent on mucus production to encapsulate toxins and powerful bacterial/fungal overgrowths in their GI tract. Mucin is around 90% carbohydrate by weight.

On a related note, I remember Paul Jaminet mentioning a few years ago that people on low carb diets need a while for the mucin production to normalize and match the increased bacterial load from carbohydrate digestion. So coming off low carb to a moderate carb diet can be equally challenging in the short term.
