[Karen] Problems, for humans, can be an opportunity to grow in awareness and become more whole, but our problems in the age of commercialism are regarded as either something needing a quick fix, something we should hide, or not a problem at all even re-framed by doctors as “normal”. What role do problems play in our lives?

[Ray] There’s one world in common for those who are awake, and every sleeper has his own private world. A problem can be part of the process of waking up, seeing errors that had been created by misunderstanding or inattention, seeing solutions that had been hidden. Seeing things objectively, problems energize and attract. Natural things are communicating their nature, and natural perception is in dialog with them, with a Heraclitean sense of development, but cultural structures that are codified for privilege have to be problematized consciously. Paolo Freire’s critical pedagogy taught problematization.
This really helped me reframe the problems in my life, and has helped me see things in a more positive light.

Thank you for posting this.

I've been reflecting on "losing" many years of my life due to illness and not figuring things out sooner, I keep telling myself what Ray says here, I was even considering emailing Ray about it so its cool to see his reponse.

This is worthy of being put into the quotes section.

Really glad to hear it helps you too :)

Had no idea there is a quotes section - will remember for next time

I was just thinking about how if I had found Ray years ago when I first started looking into health, things may have been a lot easier. If I could help someone else cut down their journey time it would be really cool.

But I also think there's value in having a long health journey before coming across Ray - trying lots of different things helps you learn what works and what doesn't, and Ray's work becomes that much more meaningful in that context.

I feel like discovering Ray was extremely lucky and it only happened because of severe illness. If things werent so extreme I would have firstly never found him, secondly never took him seriously as what he was saying was the complete opposite of the mainstream - but the mainstream stuff was not working in my case.

He really is our window into the past, before pharmaceutical companies heavily swayed the practice of medicine, and changed the mainstream. I still very often stop and think how crazy it is that the mainstream say salt, sugar, saturated fat, CO2, higher rather than lower resting pulse, etc... are all bad, when there is so much evidence and simple logic supporting the complete opposite. I too am so lucky to have found Ray - a literal lifeline.
