50 Years Ago, Sugar Industry Quietly Paid Scientists To Point Blame At Fat

Well, both the sugar and fat industries should have pointed the finger at the bigger issue, in regards to heart disease- Television.

If you look at the rise in heart disease, it follows the rate of TV adoption much more closely than the rate of sugar or fat consumption.

And TV can certainly be causal- It caused people to spend more time indoors, be less active, exposed people to consistent, low grade X Ray radiation, exposed people to novel amounts of light, especially blue light as TVs evolved, and wrecked havoc with normal sleep patterns.

No doubt that PUFAs are a major problem, as are other aspects of food, but the provable effects of TV have flown under the radar for more than half a century.

Interesting. Never considered tv and heart disease before.
And don't forget TV dinners, and all the fast food ads on the tube. And the stress of watching the news, which is mostly negative. And the ways in which it cripples our social interactions and isolates us.
