    Lotion Crafter Vitamin E Sucks

Lotion Crafter might be the best vitamin E liquid available. However, some tocopherol forms are destroyed by oxygen (apparently alpha tocopherol isn't), and whenever you open your Lotion Crafter container, you expose the vitamin E to oxygen. I'm actually not sure how much is destroyed, but I...

Good Alpha/Gamma Tocopherol Ratio in Vitamin E Supplements

If one takes a vitamin E supplement that contains only alpha tocopherol, serum gamma tocopherol decreases, and that condition is associated with health problems. So it's better to take a vitamin E supplement which has all the 4 tocopherols, to not deplete the ones not included in the supplement...

Gamma and alpa tocopherol affect lungs in opposite ways

This study is controversial, but I decided to post it anyways. In his earlier writings Peat wrote almost exclusively about alpha tocopherol and its beneficial effects. As more studies came out about the other isomers, I think Peat started leaning more towards the gamma isomer. Well, according to...

Peak Serum Vitamin E Level After Topical Application

Serum vitamin E peaks an hour after topical application of pure vitamin E (with no olive oil, coconut oil, or other media). Significant absorption seems to continue to the third hour after application. See page 14 of this PDF.

Vitamin E In Canola, Other Oils Hurts Lungs

A large new study advances our understanding of vitamin E and ties increasing consumption of supposedly healthy, vitamin E-rich oils -- canola, soybean and corn -- to the rising incidence of lung inflammation and, possibly, asthma. The good news: vitamin E in olive and sunflower oils improves...

Vitamin E extends lifespan but only if taken long term

This study does a decent job of discussing the benefits of vitamin E, the boom of research in the 1990s and the disappointing results. But despite all of the bad mainstream press, Ray is once again right on the money. Vitamin E does have a lifespan extending effect but it just has to be taken...

Vitamin E Supplementation and Serum Levels

I'd like to collect information on how much vitamin E supplements raise serum levels. Please feel free to post anything about the subject here. I quote a few statements from the vitamin E encyclopedia: -Doses of 100 to 3200 IU per day were not toxic in healthy adults. -Supplementation of...

    Vitamin E on a PUFA-free Diet

Many authors mention that vitamin E needs increase with PUFA intake. If PUFA intake were zero, would vitamin E theoretically have any use? Vitamin E allows the body to store more vitamin A in the liver and to use it efficiently. In a PUFA-free diet, would vitamin A still be stored and used...

    Topical or Oral Vitamin E

Is applying vitamin E topically more effective? I'm thinking that if you take vitamin E orally, it will quickly reach the bloodstream and excess be eliminated. If you apply it topically, it will slowly move from the tissues to the bloodstream, so less will be eliminated and more will be used.
