What Does It Mean To Be Drained By Orgasm/masturbation

We can feel drained after exercise but that doesn't necessarily mean it isn't good for us. I read a study a few years ago that said that men who did not release their semen for week at a time had higher bio-markers for prostate cancer. The researchers recommended releasing semen at least 20 times/month. Works for me. Frankly, I never hear any negative effect talk from my peers about masturbation/sex like I hear on this forum. Just sort of surprises me, but I am not an expert at this stuff, and I am not saying they can't be right about what they are saying.

Does nobody on this forum have a positive view of women? This place is turning into some sort of incel forum.

If a guy is on a health forum, he's more likely than not just trying to fix hair loss/get ripped to increase sexual appeal. So he's probably not all that successful with women in reality, and that's why you see so many misogynistic/women-hating posts on here.

You dont think tall people masturbate?
No. Since I said masturbation is done mostly by not tall individuals, it means there are still tall males that masturbate, but these guys are not the majority of masturbators, because they are more likely to have sex, and, therefore, more likely not to be in need for masturbation, for sexual pleasure.

How have you conducted your masturbation survey?

The whole nofap movement is bunk. It makes zero evolutionary sense since its a completely natural behaviour that has been with us since long before we were even human and is even depicted in some of our oldest cave paintings. Since fapping has been completely ubiquitous since before the goddamned stone age, its safe to say that it is either neutral or probably even beneficial to reproductive fitness. If it was even slightly detrimental to reproductive fitness, you can be damn sure it would have been mercilessly eliminated by natural or sexual selection a long time ago.

Maybe this is why the online nofap movement is mostly populated by weak and virginal incels who do nothing but incessantly fret like women about their constant "relapses" and still do not manage to change their situation or get outside the house and chat up a lady. Oh, and why it supposedly takes several months to see benefits from it, and still many do not see benefits at all but just crash into a perpetual "flatline".

Nofappers have also got the actual neuroendocrine effects of orgasm and why nofapping occasionally works completely backwards. Orgasm does not "fry" your dopamine receptors nor is the elevated mood and motivation that can temporarily result from abstaining due to "enhanced dopamine sensitivity" - it is due to elevated dopamine levels pure and simple because when you abstain you basically never give your body a signal to put a break on dopamine. Orgasming works to elevate prolactin levels which act as a break on dopamine signalling. This is the obvious reason why you feel tired and unmotivated just after coming.

However I suspect that getting this regular break on dopamine signalling produced by orgasm is beneficial to maintain dopamine sensitivity, running around 24/7 with super high dopamine levels is basically a stressor and very taxing on your body, which is likely why we have this hard-wired almost uncontrollable urge to "release" when we've been abstaining for too long, it is acting as a potent stress reliever and allows you to relax. That might also be why long-term nofappers report totally crashing when they go for months without fapping and then have one orgasm and get depressed for weeks, whereas people who regularly orgasm do not notice much difference in mood after busting a nut.

I see it as a sign of poor health -hormonal- status and/or aging. Do you think of a 20 yo male drained from frequent sex/masturbation?

The only problem I may see for a healthy person from too much masturbation is in case it relayed on addiction or some psychological driven issue.

Pick one, or explain the implications of "bunk".

It's good to note that the idea of moderation/abstinence regarding ejaculation has also been around in every civilized culture that has ever existed. Fapping having been ubiquitous throughout the ages does not necessarily point to either positive or negative consequences for reproductive fitness, but to the straightforward reality that every man is born with a penis that gives pleasure when touched.

There's a WIDE GAP between things that can undermine individual/societal wellbeing and things that have unavoidable negative reproductive consequences. A man only needs to breed once during his lifetime to be evolutionarily fit. Most men can easily achieve this even when actively draining themselves two times a day. What daily masturbators can not easily achieve is artistic expression, intellectual coherency, or other non-sexual feats that require significant amount of passion and dedication. Excessive masturbation does not make you dysfunctional. It makes you unpassionate.

How do you feel about reversing your statement: since the idea of abstinence has been around for ages, it is safe to say that it is either neutral or probably even beneficial to reproductive fitness. If this statement stirs you emotionally, consider your original claim likely to be intellectually compromised.

That might also be why long-term nofappers report totally crashing when they go for months without fapping and then have one orgasm and get depressed for weeks, whereas people who regularly orgasm do not notice much difference in mood after busting a nut.
Might be, but overall it explains nothing of substance. Ejaculation after months of abstinence is intense. It is so taxing that it can even kill older men. Humor me and imagine drinking a can of beer every day vs getting smashed every third month. Of course the one getting smashed is going to feel awful the days after. However, the matter becomes more controversial when put like this: who is going to feel better in the long term, the one who gets drunk 4 times a year or the one who drinks a little every day? The short answer: IT DEPENDS.

It's an energy problem.

If you already have a stressed out hormonal profile and are inefficiently creating energy, and then orgasm, that subsequent prolactin increase is going to mess with your thyroid function and cause you to be even crappier at producing energy.

If you have a high metabolism and are churning out energy like crazy with a healthy hormonal profile, high temps, healthy thyroid, having an orgasm here and there isn't going to impede your life progress what so ever. In fact it'll probably feel really good and you'll feel energized from it.

The whole NoFap movement has many guys with poor metabolisms and inefficient energy generation. Combine that with low self-esteem and a built on psychological guilt towards masturbation, and its no wonder that they get depressed after "relapsing" and losing their placebo "super-powers".

If you have chronically high estrogen, cortisol, and prolactin, the constant prolactin spike from chronic orgasm will no doubt deplete you. Fix those issues, and 1)you'll probably feel so damn good you wont want to chronically masturbate and 2)even if you do partake it won't affect you that heavily and 3) you'll probably have found a mate because of your high energy levels, passion, and attitude towards life.

That being said, porn is messed up. It's not rooted in reality and encourages fantasizing instead of actively seeking a sexual partner. Imagine a world with no pornography. Now imagine the feeling of not masturbating for a week. Now imagine you have a healthy hormonal profile and high metabolism. You're going to be thirsty af and actively seeking hard to find a mate to blow a load. And if you don't, you'll probably jerk one off in the bushes and then continue on with life.

A lot has changed since then, especially in the last 20 years or so. Cave paintings were not as stimulating as hardcore porn in 4K. People did not get easily addicted to masturbation in the pre-internet era. Now If you live in the developed world you can spend days being alone masturbating to every fetish imaginable. This is no longer natural behaviour and it can create serious problems in some people. They can benefit from doing nofap.

Porn is a separate issue, however the nofap movement conflates the two and considers masturbation evil as well, even though spending hours watching porn has pretty much the opposite effect on you as sneaking into the bathroom for a few minutes to bust a nut.

The arguments made by the nofap community are mostly wrong, it doesnt mean abstaining has no effect or that one cannot benefit from it temporarily, but I dont think the overall long-term effect of trying to minimize your orgasm frequency is beneficial.

Yes, its an idea that has mostly been present with the clergy and other spiritual people who are mostly content to sit in a hut and do yoga postures or pray, not exactly the most creative or reproductively successful group of people.

Why does touching your own penis give you pleasure? Does it give you pleasure to caress your own inner thigh or squeeze your own **** as well? Your body obviously knows the difference between touching yourself and touching/being touched by someone else, so there is likely a reason why we maintain the rather special ability to bring ourselves to orgasm through self-stimulating our genitals. It is a behavior that otherwise could easily have been eliminated by evolution, ie our genitals could easily have evolved to become insensitive to self-touch, if doing so provided any reproductive advantage.

There's a WIDE GAP between things that can undermine individual/societal wellbeing and things that have unavoidable negative reproductive consequences. A man only needs to breed once during his lifetime to be evolutionarily fit. Most men can easily achieve this even when actively draining themselves two times a day. I think that's basically incorrect, evolution is driven by those who reproduce the most, the most successful genotypes will drive less successful genotypes to extinction regardless of whether the latter manage to spawn an offspring occasionally. Intelligence, passion and creativity definitely help improve ones reproductive fitness if appropriately channeled. Ladies are not attracted to stupid, unmotivated boring dullards, so any behavior that causes you to become that would rapidly lead your genes to extinction.

How do you feel about reversing your statement: since the idea of abstinence has been around for ages, it is safe to say that it is either neutral or probably even beneficial to reproductive fitness. If this statement stirs you emotionally, consider your original claim likely to be intellectually compromised.
Again abstinence is an idea that has been present mainly in fringe groups, particularly clergy and spiritual people who are not really seeing much action.

Its worth noting that spiritual practice often entails or is associated with relinquishing worldly pursuits and creative action and aiming instead to be as passive and "accepting" of the state of things as possible. I think sexual abstinence certainly ties into achieving this passive state of being, since even masturbation at least teaches your mind to actively pursue your desires.

Overall, creativity, passion and productivity strongly correlates with high sexual activity. Rock stars, actors, artists, poets, business leaders, politicians, athletes - you dont think these people orgasm more than the average person? Certainly does not seem to hinder their creative output. I really think frequent orgasm actually helps people be more productive and creative, since it allows your dopamine system to regularly shut down and recharge.

Could it be that the post-orgasmic drainage some describe is largely psychological and dependent on external factors? Like a return to a shitty reality?

Fapping energizes me, it makes me feel great. Sure there is a sharp fall right after, but overall I feel great. Horny, full of energy and sexual desire. After the cumshot I go back to a pretty good reality and have no reason to feel drained or depressed.

Which sharply contrasts with my no fap efforts based on suggestions in this forum - loss of libido, hard time to get errect, ejaculating from a semi flacid penis, and just lack of interest in women and sex. I don't want that.

edging + kegels > nofap

its funny because i'm so ill that i can't really exercise and sometimes even masturbating is too much work. so i try and do edging and kegels if i can, because at least that raises ur tesosterone and helps ur sexual health in general

also porn = bad, largely. but in the similar ways that techno-stimulation is bad

just jack off to story of the eye and you will learn a lot about life and yourself

more people need to be like danny roddy--he had hair loss and instead of turning into an angry incel he fixed it and is an overall nice guy who doesn't seem at all insecure or weird

i don't know his political views but he seems very invested in peat's work and I imagine he shares some utopian views

I know it sounds ludicrous but excessive orgasm coupled with porn has essentially ruined my life.

Just read a few of your previous posts and I agree a lot of guys on health/no fap+porn forums can begin to start hating women for a number of reasons (think the inability to address familial cycles+matrilineal issues) but I'm not one of them lol. After 10+ years addiction last year I managed to only PMO on 70 days out of the usual 365 but essentially it's made every time I do PMO even worse. Yeah PMO ***** with you because the raised prolactin (and god knows what other compounds) has no counter-balance that one would normally experience with a partner. For me, I have to stop - I don't really have a choice without my life grinding to a stand still. A major part of the healing process is to look into psychology and the relationship with ones mother. Another user on here and I once discussed about how the maternal-bond probably effects hairloss/balding and autism too.

i really don't know how one treats porn addiction, i'm sorry

it's sort of like sex addiction combined with internet/media addiction, and i've never been good at managing the latter so idk

i wasn't saying you were like those guys, i was just tlaking in general

I'm sure you will find a solution if you read a lot and improve general health and meditate on it, though
