Did you stop Cypro altogether or did you just lower the dose? I just got mine a week ago and I'm up to 8mg per day without feeling drowsy at all. I was interested in trying a higher dose for a while, since I have high estrogen and serotonin, to see if that would help.
I'm tapering off. Besides liver enzymes, you want to be sure to taper down when you come off to avoid serotonin rebound.

In some, I think the use is justified, but I don't think pharmaceuticals should be used over the course of months or years.

There's also some cardiac side effects to worry about, but if you stick to a lower dose, I don't think these are major.

Fine.
- Masturbation no longer drains my energy, and I have a greater agency over whether to choose to engage in the act or not.
- More prominent libido when engaging with girls.
- Less anxiety in all social situations.
- ADD symptoms completely absent.
- Ability to concentrate in college lectures for over two hours; only applies if blood sugar is balanced both before, during, and after the lecture.
- Absence of learned helplessness; things feel easy and no longer a chore.
- Less nausea and ability to consume copious amounts of orange juice, milk, and coconut oil; additionally, able to swallow supplemental pills without gagging.
- Sleep quality greatly improved; the stress-response evoked from operating on a sleep deficit has diminished 70-90% (partly due to increased appetite and subsequent carbohydrate consumption).
- Blood-sugar response and response to stress in general greatly reduced; more physiological stability.
- Autistic tendencies have decreased greatly; I find myself engaging people more readily in conversation.
- Stopped working out due to a recent concussion; weight and muscle mass have both increased.
- Lowered body fat due to increased consumption of metabolic uncouplers (such as coconut oil).
- Depression greatly minimized.
- Much quieter and sedated; no urge to speak unless asked.
- Dark circles around eyes have lessened.
- Improved clarity of vision.
- No more arthritic aches in joints; recovery from stress greatly improved, as evident in a very quick rebound from my concussion.
- Increased libido, but a diminished compulsion to look at porn and other forms of entertainment; more centered and grounded.
- More decisive in following through with actions; I stick to a schedule more easily now.
- No more negative self-talk voices and anxious thoughts.

Dosage: 8 mg Periactin (cyproheptadine) three times per day dissolved in warm water, let sit for 10 minutes, and then drink the liquid without swallowing the precipitated solid particles.
DAMN! all this from cypro? I guess its because it lowers the serotonin?

It's broadly protective based on Dr. Peat's writings.

I keep coming back to it, along with pregnenolone.

Cyproheptadine really is a wonder drug. I'm still on it too.

@DaveFoster did you get your liver enzymes down?

I haven't checked them in a while. I'd guess they're just under the 100s for AST and ALT at the moment.

Both AST and ALT were always ~60-65 over multiple labs taking 12-24 mg cyproheptadine daily for many months.

So I assume it doesn't worry you? Benefits outweigh the risks?

It depends, but in my case, yes.

Here's a chart of AST and ALT values in various diseases; note that x-axis does not increase in a linear fashion.

Most doctors don't worry until the AST and ALT values both get above 150 or so.

There's also some evidence that shows cyproheptadine significantly improves conditions of liver cirrhosis when paired with a chemotherapy drug, sorafenib:

"Sorafenib is a recommended treatment for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. The study is to evaluate the efficacy of sorafenib plus cyproheptadine compared with sorafenib alone in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma.

The median overall survival was 11.0 months (95% confidence interval: 6.8–15.1 months) in the combination group compared with 4.8 months (95% confidence interval: 3.1–6.6 months) in the control group (crude hazard ratio = 0.45, 95% confidence interval: 0.22–0.82). The median progression-free survival time was 7.5 months (95% confidence interval: 5.1–10.0 months) in the combination group compared with 1.7 months (95% confidence interval: 1.4–2.1 months) in the control group (crude hazard ratio = 0.43, 95% confidence interval: 0.22–0.86). Kaplan–Meier survival analysis revealed that both overall survival and progression-free survival in the combination group were significantly longer than that in the control group. The multivariate model found patients in the combination group were 76% less likely to die (adjusted hazard ratio = 0.24, 95% confidence interval: 0.10–0.58) and 82% less likely to have progression (adjusted hazard ratio = 0.18, 95% confidence interval: 0.08–0.44) during the 17 months of follow-up.

Cyproheptadine may significantly improve survival outcomes of sorafenib-treated advanced hepatocellular carcinoma patients."

Reference: Cyproheptadine significantly improves the overall and progression-free survival of sorafenib-treated advanced HCC patients

Yeah mine were only a bit elevated but I only take .5mg. If people can survive chemotherapy I'd guess I could live a long life at that level.

I like to take cypro whenever I feel like I have high-serotonin.
It's amazing how effective cypro is in immediately getting my mind clear again.
I don't think it's wise to use it everyday, as the body upregulates serotonin receptors.

I got the most benefits from using it everyday, but yeah.... I can't go off for longer than a week before all my symptoms are back.

Any bad side-effects from using it everyday?
I think if you have health-issues, using just enough to make the symptoms go away might be a useful strategy.
Just like Ray recommends taking progest-E in sufficient amount to make the symptoms go away.

Nope, sometimes feel a little groggy, or a little low dopamine, but that's probably just the time of the year not necessarily the drug.

About a year ago I did a course of cypro at .5-2mg daily and noticed nothing at all. Now, if I take .5mg I get depressed and anxious for days. After taking cypro I feel small and worthless. :shifty

Ive ramped up from .5 to 2+ish mg almost daily over the past 8 weeks or so.

To be honest, my sleep is still awful, though it MIGHT be a little better and i think im seeing some increases in appetite but other than that i dont get a ton.

The hunger isnt ravenous but im definitely snacking on cheese and dates more with sugar pepsi so it may be helping in that regard.

I dont get anything euphoric or any like weird relaxation or any of that and im no more groggy in the morning than usual

I definitely want to bang out a 6mg dose and seebwhat happens but it would have to be on a friday evening just in case

Now I am worried about dependence.

Right after sleeping for 9.5 hours last night and destroying my anxiety the last few days
The drowsiness is already gone for me. .5mg 2x a day.

So you still prefer using cypro & mirtazapine to something like metergoline?

Yeah, that often passes.
I am getting a taste of the power of this drug, and its great. Truly great how the anti-serotonin effects work.

I want up the dose but peat/haidut said to keep it under 1 mg.

Is it safe
