SMD - New research links low levels of air pollution with serious changes in the heart - Queen Mary University of London

And this from Ray's article on Cholesterol/ heart disease: Cholesterol, longevity, intelligence, and health. (my bolding added).

Just remember, it's not the fact that corporations are allowed to poison us to death, but it's our weakness and gluttony in consuming saturated fats that cause heart disease ;)

Ray Peat said:
The correspondence between heart disease and consumption of saturated fat and cholesterol is little more than advertising copy. If people were looking for the actual causes of heart disease, they would consider the factors that changed in the US during the time that heart disease mortality was increasing. Both increases in harmful factors, and decreases in protective factors would have to be considered.

The consumption of manufactured foods, pollution of air and water, the use of lead in gasoline, cigarette smoking, increased medicalization and use of drugs, psychosocial and socioeconomic stress, and increased exposure to radiation--medical, military, and industrial--would be obvious things to consider, along with decreased intake of some protective nutrients, such as selenium, magnesium, and vitamins.

In his newsletter on Hormesis in 2017 Ray Peat said that they even have convinced us that air pollution is good for you. That is since the body produces a little NO or CO then air pollution that contains CO and NO is good for you thus their justifying more air pollution.

Nuts !!!!

Does anyone know if the damage to the heart is reversible, when one spends time in clean air, for example? Can the heart "heal" or shrink itself?

I think Peat would say everything is reversible if you have good thyroid/progesterone/CO2 and move to a place free of the poisons.
