Pregnenalone And Joint Pain

This year i have had pretty bad joint problems. This is really the first time this has happened to me and i am a thyroid patient and take 125 T4 and 5 T3. I have been using 2 drops of progestE in the morning and this has really worked well for me overall.

However, the elbow pain and achilles pain and the bad knee pain have been quite bad consistently this year. My knee has caused major problems and i have seen the specialist and he says i am basically getting old and it is early arthritis. I am 43 and i play a fair bit of sport. My health has never been better in terms of thyroid performance, but my joints and body has generally been feeling very old this year.

So i have some questions about pregnenalone if anyone can help me. I have used it in the past and it works well for a bit and then it seems to not work as well. So last night at 8am i took 50mcgs of pregnenalone and had a normal night watching Tv and went to bed. Today i feel really good in terms of my joints. No stiffness and less pain really. My waking temp was excellent and i also feel much warmer this morning.

1) Does anyone know if the pregnenalone can help with the joint problem ?

2) Is it ok to take the pregnenalone at bedtime or is it best taken in the day. I find taking my thyroid meds at night much better and was wondering if taking pre at this time might fit in better with our hormone cycle (we make the main hormones we need for the day at nighttime as i understand it).

3) Will using pregnenalone and progesterone be ok ? Can the two work together ?

4) What hormone do you think my body is missing if i am struggling to get fully optimised with progesterone and thyroid ? I have tried adding 5mcg DHEA, but i always feel worse after using this. My last testosterone blood test showed good levels (22nmol/l 10-29 range).

I take oral Pregnenalone 5 mg in the AM, and PM. I feel great, I stayed at 5mg daily to maintain consistent effects and acclimation. That second dose really just brings me up, almost DHEA like effects consistently, immediately. I don’t take Progesterone as there’s no need, since some of this converts already. I’d love to add DHEA to this, and keep low affect, low energy, and low moods at bay for good. I hear the combination can be awesome for men, then again, one could argue Pregnenalone also converts to that. I’ve never had joint pain, but there’s no reason to think it wouldn’t be good for it. People on here also do the Pregnenalone and Progesterone combo, but I can’t relate, good luck.

When do you think a man should take pregnenolone AND progesterone? Or add DHEA? Ive always been a bit confused about this, since all 3 of these are highly regarded by peat.

For joint pain I would think to take some gelatin or bone broth. Some ground beef daily would help as well I would think. :2cents:

I love beef, just wondering why you recommend ground beef specifically for joint pain...does ground beef have gelatin?

Ground beef for the collagen, it's not good enough for a steak because of the proximity to and amount of collagen it contains.

Cyclops, to be clear, I am no authority on using hormones lol. I do see some men on here using both, Pregnenalone and Progesterone and/or DHEA. I don’t think Progesterone is needed for men on Pregnenalone (especially certain dose ranges) personally. The Pregnenalone and DHEA combo has been mentioned numerous times. The ideal ratio has also been discussed by Haidut. I can’t recall the thread, sorry.

Wow thanks for the reply :) It is 2 years ago that i posted this question and interesting to see what i wrote.

Still been having joint problems BUT i have found the solution this autumn. I think the issue was lower cortisol and i have amended this issue by taking my T3 dose at 4am.

This taps in to our natural cycle when we make cortisol and the addition of T3 at this take generates much more cortisol for the next day.

I am also now only using 1 drop of progesterone per day = 3mg and everything is going well.

I have tried the pansterone liquid, but i can say it does much. The androsterone supplement is possibly a better addition, but it is hard to tell if it really does positive stuff.
