Not really, at least not in the studies I have seen. Some other steroids like T, progesterone, DHT, androsterone, and even DHEA have dopaminergic effects and I have not seen any reports of them causing dopamine dependence.

I really like this product. I seem to notice a boost in mood and focus from this, even when nothing else works. Has anyone tried putting a drop of this around a subjects eyes for cataracts, such as a dog?

In the concentrations used in the studies, corresponding to 5mg-15mg daily for a human, I don't think it would be a concern. A person typically ingests tens of times more cholesterol through their diet. Also, given that lanosterol is uncoupler and increases metaboism, it may help with the cholesterol rather than hurt.

Possibly, especially if combined with progesterone.

Poor old ratty doesn't respond well to this.

One nights solid sleep upon first dose with a sharp uptick of sexual desire then second night something slightly off and beginning to feel rough around the edges, followed on day 3 by increasing anxiety until dosing stopped.

Have tried reducing dosing after wash out with same results. Will try 1 drop when feeling brave and when it's alright to not function properly.

I think you should just not take it. I'm saying this because I used that approach with 5a-DHP with disastrous results. Playing with the dose to get a desired effect won't work and will likely make things worse, especially if it builds up. If it's not for you, its not for you.

This is not consistent with my experience as dose is context dependent. It looks like Rad had a stress response from increase in metabolism caused by Lanosterol.

I also had negative experiences 5a-DHP, and also with androsterone.

That product on Amazon is 10mg TOTAL lanosterol per bottle for $99. Our product is 240mg for $35 :):
I don't know if it can be used as eye drops when dissolved in tocopherol. Somebody should probably ask Peat.
Is there any reason to speculate that transdermal lanosterol could reduce protein aggregation in the eye without direct application to the eye?

If it is applied close to the eye such as eyelid or temple then some if it will make its way into the eye. In theory, applying even elsewhere on the body would work but you'd need a much higher dose to achieve concentrations in the eye comparable to the 0.5mg-1mg dose in each eye commonly mention in the medical literature.

After using Lanosterol for two and a half weeks, it is easy to see this becoming my favorite Idealabs product. Lanosterol has noticeably helped me remember who I am, who I have always been, before falling apart by destroying my metabolism. It's hard to pin down, but I feel as though I think the way I used to. Still not as smart as I once was, but the kinds of thoughts I entertain and the ability to think more clearly feel comfortable, like an old favorite pair of shoes.

Some things I have noticed: better flexibility (this has improved with the addition of several different Idealab products), occasional temporary pain in areas that were once injured - I want to think something is healing there, deeper sleep, more dreams, calmer disposition (though I can still get down or angry), awakening happier - though not always, ability to focus better, definitely surprising myself with my tenacity when tackling something I have to do but don't really want to do, definitely feeling more amorous, better skin, urges to tend more to my looks, and somewhat better temperatures - still must work on eating enough.

One thing negative I have noticed is a return of my reflux. I had eliminated all starches and that took care of most of the reflux, but now no matter what I eat I have it.

For cataracts, I had tried applying a drop spread around my temples and above my eyes. It makes my eyes puff up and also gives me a red and itchy skin reaction if used anywhere on face or neck. Everywhere else so far has been okay. Usually use back of hands, shoulders, and inner forearms.

The dosage for me so far is 3 drops in the morning, 4 drops before bed. Going to add one more drop tonight and see what happens. Transdermal application.

Thank you, again, Haidut!

Great, thanks! The mood/memory improvement is probably due to its ability to dissolve protein aggregates, and possibly lipofuscin.

When I added the additional drop I apparently went too far. When I woke up the next morning I had vertigo. Not debilitating but on the verge of it being so. I stopped the Lanosterol for 1.5 days and resumed at 2 drops AM and 2 in the PM. There is still a minor amount of vertigo when I bend forward or tilt my head back but it seems to be improving. As long as I am making progress otherwise, 2 and 2 will be my dosage for a while.

Haidut, have you ever heard of vertigo as the result of pushing metabolism too far too fast? I wonder if that is what it is about in this case.

I have heard of vertigo as a sign of GABA agonism, which lanosterol and/or its metabolites may be able to do. Progesterone, another GABA agonist, is known to do it too.

Has anyone used this on their eyes topically or on their pets? My dog sure could use this but the options on amazon are insanely overpriced.

Is there any evidence for an "upper bound" dose at which no further dissolution of aggregates is noted?
