I am 63, post menopausal (had total hysterectomy at age 35) and have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Along with my thyroid medication I currently supplement with:
vitamin A (5000 i.u./drop)— 2 drops/day
vitamin B complex — 2 drops/day (6.6mg B1, 1mg B2, 34mg B3, 660mcg B6, 66mcg B7)
vitamin D3 (1000 i.u.) — every day
vitamin E (400 i.u.) — every other day
vitamin K (1mg/drop) — 2 drops/day
magnesium citrate (200mg) every day
selenium (200mcg) 2 capsules every day
progesterone (3 mg/drop): 6 drops every day
I also take a single plain Alka-Seltzer in water, though not every day. (Should I????)

I am thinking of re-starting pregnenolone but not sure if it's better to take a single 300mg dose once a week or 50mg a day.

Any advice MUCH appreciated!

In reading RP's book, From PMS to Menopause: Female Hormones in Context, I thought adding in pregnenolone would be helpful.....

Yeah pregnenlone is helpful especially for men to avoid progesterone numbing the penis. If I were a woman, I would swim in progesterone. Having said, I heard the 30-50 mg thrown a lot here as an initial dose.

If you have been using symptoms, temperature, pulse, and reflexes to track thyroid function, the same things are helpful for monitoring response to pregnenolone. Thyroid symptoms, or their absence, are rough measures of metabolism.

If things are already going well, at most start with a small amount. While it's accurate that pregnenolone has a long half life, smaller amounts more frequently is a closer match to physiologic pattern in young adults. In some cases, even 5 or 10 mg amounts have noticeably helpful effects.

Years back, Dr. Peat for non-urgent situations said that 3 times per week was reasonable. One advantage to smaller amounts is time of day can optimize individual responses. Depending on context, pregnenolone can be a sleep aid for some, or a daytime boost for others. In some cases, pregnenolone boosts thyroid function in those already taking supplementary thyroid so daily thyroid dose may be modified. YMMV.

If you are in the northern hemisphere (esp. high latitude) without large food/light sources of vitamin D, you might think about checking serum vitamin D and PTH levels and adjusting D3 intake accordingly. It is near peak winter darkness–Vitamin D intake may be seasonally low and PTH high.

Thanks for the replies. I think lower physiologic doses suits me better; when I was on T3-only I multi-dosed to more closely imitate what my body would have produced. I will observe how pregnenolone affects me.

I am at approx. 55 feet elevation and will increase my vitamin D for the shorter days of winter.
