Do Certain Races/ethnicities Need More Or Less Of Certain Nutrients?

From all I've learned reading on biology, history, Peat, etc, it seems to believe the answer would be no!

Has anyone found dietary/supplement patterns that work really well for e.g. their own race but not other races?

What would be some tips and guidelines if you were Asian, vs. Arab, vs. European?

Studies to back up any ideas would be much appreciated. Anecdotal data is fine as well, as long as we label it as such!

Could be that people from hot climates need even less PUFA, and people from cold climates need PUFA, and can't handle as much sugar.

But the average Southeast Asian or Mexican is actually more cold-adapted than europeans in this sense. It's not something that's very consistent.

Additionally, forager ancestry and late neolithic adoption probably correlate to more gluten intolerance and starch intolerance.

These seem like conflicting statements. Also if people from colder climates need PUFA and can't handle much sugar that is pretty big news.

I think there are some genetic and epigenetic differences that have allowed people to best adapt to their regional food sources. As a couple of examples, we would not do well on an Inuit diet of blubber while the Samoans and other Pacific Islanders are doing very poorly on a western diet. Not sure what Ray would say about that though.

I don't see how they conflict.

The vegetarian study concerning desaturase found that Indians, followed closely by Africans have the most active desaturase enzymes. This is what you'd expect from a population that eats warm animals (low fat/sat fat).

Southeast Asians, Native Americans/Hispanics, Europeans, and Northeast Asians had low desaturase activity. Thus they required some amount of arachidonic acid in their diets.

Of course these are trends, IIRC 20% of the europeans had very high desaturase activity, it's just that among the Indians this proportion was more like 80%.
