@ Hugh Johnson: there was a thread about is by some dude who asked Peat advice
        • Oct 18, 2017 at 3:32 PM
@ Hugh Johnson: Can be done. Though you might consider cheating a bit with gelatin.
          • Oct 18, 2017 at 3:32 PM
@ Hugh Johnson: Gelatin is a byproduct anyway.

@ BemusedObserver: yea I seen that thread and it has great tips to start, yep I figured Gelatin would be a major issue - I know there is a veggie alternative "gelatin" made from carrageenan (seaweed I think?), but i've heard some pretty bad stuff on the chemicals they use to extract it

@ BemusedObserver: I can't wait until we get to a point to where all of nutrient needs can be met without taking a life. Or maybe I'll have to adjust my perspective on this, because it seems to be the nature of life here, here on Earth at least..

@ BemusedObserver: I guess if we just do the very best we can do with the tools we have and find some sort of balance in this chaos, then that's all we can do right? Drives me nuts
                  • Oct 19, 2017 at 3:52 AM
@ Hugh Johnson: Grow up. You are a predator. Predator kills and eats things. Not that I defend the current system.

@ BemusedObserver: Yea, I realize that's our history, I am just wondering if we are at a point in our evolution to where we can use our intellect and tools to create food and food sources that don't necessarily involve taking life or harming the environment. Or at the very least, minimize the impact we create...

@ BemusedObserver: I hear you about being a predator, I know we aren't too far removed from our past. I just wish there was a better way,
                        • Oct 19, 2017 at 11:50 AM
@ Hugh Johnson: In hindsight, that was a bit rude. Sorry.
                          • Oct 19, 2017 at 11:50 AM
@ Hugh Johnson: Anyway, death feeds all life.
                            • Oct 19, 2017 at 11:52 AM
@ Hugh Johnson: You live off the death of other beings, and they will life off of yours.

@ BemusedObserver: Hey thanks! That's totally okay, it's nice to experience people in their rawness...I'm learning to not be so sensitive and emotionally weak, so I welcome "rudeness" "negativity" and all these things we perceive and experience as negative and rejecting...it creates an opportunity to work on building SKILLZ
                                • Oct 19, 2017 at 2:09 PM
@ BemusedObserver: yea, you are so right in putting it that way, I guess it's just a matter of accepting what this all is and being okay with it I suppose...

@ pimpnamedraypeat: I think what you want is painless death and a fulfilling life for ur food
                                      • Oct 19, 2017 at 5:50 PM
@ pimpnamedraypeat: Not factory farming or slaughterhouses

@ Hugh Johnson: more than that. I want my food to be produced in way that makes the world richer
                                          • Oct 20, 2017 at 7:15 AM
@ Hugh Johnson: Both for humans and other living beings.

@ Hugh Johnson: Humans have a prefrontal cortex, and by using them we are capable of making ecosystems more productive, diverse and resilient while feeding ourselves
